### Rethinking the Perimeter

For two decades, enterprise IT relied on the castle-and-moat security model: everything outside the firewall was untrusted, while everything inside was presumed benign.

Modern distributed workforces and multi-cloud environments have rendered this perimeter obsolete. Today’s threats originate not only from unauthorized external probes, but through stolen valid credentials and supply chain compromises.

### The Core Pillars of Zero-Trust

1. **Verify Explicitly**: Authenticate and authorize based on all available data points (identity, device health, location, data classification).
2. **Use Least Privilege Access**: Limit user access with Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-Enough-Access (JEA) permissions.
3. **Assume Breach**: Minimize blast radius by segmenting networks, encrypting end-to-end telemetry, and using automated analytics to intercept anomalies in real time.
